During chat with your friend you can invite this bot to a group chat so that you can instantly translate English messages to Spanish.
For example if you send translate “Hello” from English to Spanish send “Hello” to en2es@bot.talk.google.com . The Google Talk Translation Bot will respond with “Hola.”
